Out of State Attorneys Passing the California Bar Attorneys Exam-2015
Attorneys Exam California
If you are a practicing attorney who wants to pass the California Bar Exam 2015, it can be a challenging prospect. Especially if you haven’t “hit the books” or been a law student for many years.
Trying to memorize the elements of products liability for example, while preparing for a big trial or traveling to meet an important client, adds additional time pressures to an often already “full plate.” And the fact that California offers no reciprocity can be frustrating. Barwinners understands! But if you want to or need to practice law in California, you must take the California Bar Exam.
The Good News: The bar examiners only spend 1-3 minutes grading your essays and performance exams. They are not looking for novel, unique or out-of-the box thinking. They are looking for a standardized answer template to standardized issue tested regularly. Our materials are designed for the busy, harassed, time pressed attorney, who needs to make every second of studying count. We cut-to-the-chase. We give the substantive law to you in the way you must give it to the bar examiners. We give you simulated practice examinations with quality feedback. We have an attorney online mentor, just for you. Shari Karney is also available to help you with time management, helping design a tailored study schedule for you, exam writing, and structure. We also offer one-on-one tutoring live, via Skype, or phone. Whatever works best for you, fits into your busy schedule, and matches what we assess that you need. We offer full Performance Test Workshops.
Your years of experience as a practicing attorney can be a real advantage on the heavily weighted Performance Test (the practical portion of the California Bar Exam). With the practice of law comes the ability to quickly discern and ferret out, the client file and library, provided by the California Bar Examiners on the Performance Test. These skills are crucial to bar exam success and can give you an edge over recent grads taking the California Bar Exam. Further, the Performance Exam can be on any legal topic. But everything is provided to you by the examiners. It doesn’t require memorization of substantive law. Only application of what the bar gives you to the task memo you are asked to do. This can be a big plus for practicing attorneys if organized and managed correctly based on the Barwinners Performance Test Workshop strategies.
However, as you may have already researched, the pass rate for the California Attorney’s Exam is around 35%. There are a lot of theories about why the pass rate is low for attorneys. Here’s what we think. The low pass rate is usually due to the fact that professionals often do not have the time to adequately study. Further, attorney bar takers write like attorneys and not like law students “pretending to be attorneys.” The traditional big bar review course, (the type you probably took when you graduated law school,) really offer no reprieve for attorney exam takers. They are geared to young law students, fresh out of school, who can devote two months to studying thousands of pages of relevant and irrelevant law. Given your schedule, trying to plough though huge tomes of substantive law outlines (like the ones you used when you first passed the bar exam 6-40 years ago) tend to be a disaster for the busy attorney bar taker.

BarWinners Attorney Approach Book “Bar Exam Bible” gives you what you need to give to the Bar Examiners to pass the essays. You must give the examiners what they need to see. Here’s what one of our out-of-state attorneys said after taking Barwinners and passing the California Attorney’s Exam:
“Before signing up with Barwinners, I had last taken a Bar Exam during the Ford Administration. In the decades that followed, I developed skills that served me well as a litigator but were at best useless and at worst counterproductive with respect to passing the California Bar Exam. There’s a reason the passing rate for the Attorney Exam is so low. Barwinners knows the reason and how to fix it. Really, all you have to do is listen. I took the online course, studying nights after work, weekends and full-time a couple of weeks before the exam. Obviously not the ideal situation but the Barwinners approach allowed me to make the most of the subject knowledge I was able to absorb by presenting it to the Bar Examiners in a way that convinced them I knew what I was talking about even though, I can assure you, there were times during the exam when I did not.”
“Because of Barwinners, I do not have to tell my East Coast partners that there won’t be a California office for them to visit next Winter. Thank you Barwinners. I know I could not have done it without you.”
