I’m sure you’re somewhere in some dark corner of the library or at home, reading and then re-reading about testamentary trusts (hopefully not), but I want you to take a moment and reflect upon the last 8 weeks.
You all have done well in Barwinners and I have been excited to see how much you have improved through the process of taking the Course, and participating in Simulated Bar Exams and getting comprehensive feedback.
Keep in mind that you haven’t just been preparing for this exam for 8 weeks, but you’ve been honing your skills for the last 3 years. You can do this.
I always tell my students to think about an attorney you know and consider whether that person is exceptionally smart…. The answer may be yes (maybe!) but more often than not the answer is no. But still they passed the California Bar Exam and are practicing attorneys… Why?
Because the bar exam is not a test of intelligence. It’s a test of stamina, organization, knowledge and confidence. You have been working on stamina, organization and knowledge for the last 3 years. Now is the time to bring the confidence into the Bar Exam with you.
This is manageable and this is doable.
If you have any questions about specifics that I would recommend you work on the next week, or just freak out at any point, please feel free to email me! This email offer also goes into the three days of the bar exam (though you will NOT freak out during the bar!). If you need reassurance during the bar exam, please feel free to call me so we can chat.
Also, if after the exam you want to email me and tell me “Hey, that wasn’t so bad” or “After taking Barwinners Sim’s, the actual bar exam was actually easy”, that’s fine too!
I look forward to seeing your name on the pass list in May.
Shari Karney, Esq.
